Walk, bike or drive around the property and familiarize yourself with the area. Get a feel of what it would be like to live in the neighbourhood.

Do your research around the property, the area and comparable properties. Make a list of questions you want to ask the property manager or a list of things you want to look at in the property (i.e. does the property come with a washing machine).

Take someone with you

It is always a good idea to take a friend or someone you trust to help you with a second opinion around the property.

Check carefully

Take your time during the inspection and look at all aspects of the property that may be important to your household. For example, level access, security, fresh air or ample light. Ask the property manager any questions you may have. For example, did the previous tenants have any issues about the property you should be aware of.
